2004 VMAA Trophy

Doncaster Aeromodellers -- taking it to 4 in a row with a win on April 3 and 4, 2004 to follow the Hat Trick of wins in 2001, 2002 and 2003!

Team Manager (Cliff McIver) with the trophy and other Sunday winners -- from the left: Daniel Travassaros, David Gibbs, Kevin Fryer, Graham Kay, Cliff McIver, Boz Student, Anthony Peate, Graham Scott (VMAA Contest Director) -- Noel Whitehead absent.

Over the 9 events, the results for the top 6 count -- and this year we managed 1st place in two events, 2nd in three events, and 3rd in a further two.  There were many highlights as always. so let me touch on them with the results:

  • ARF Scale Aerobatics -- 1st place to Daniel Travassaros.  A great effort by Daniel at only 14 years old, and a good advance on his second from lat Year

  • Fun Fly -- 1st place to Cliff McIver.   Despite many concerted efforts to beat him, Cliff remains King of this event!

  • Club Racing -- 2nd place to Graham Kay.  This was a real fight to the finish and an excellent effort by Graham given a relative lack of practice!!

  • Fun Scale -- 2nd place to Noel Whitehead.  Our regular competitor on a world scale delivered another very strong performance.

  • Musical Landings -- 2nd place to Boz Student.  Boz's steady and unflappable style delivers yet again!

  • Old Timer Duration -- 3rd  place to Kevin Fryer.  Another strong performance for a good placing in this event

  • Seven Cell Glider -- 3rd  place to Anthony Peate.  This was Anthony's first appearance for us and an excellent first up result.

  • Most Unusual Model -- 5th place to David Gibbs and Cliff McIver.  Next time we might test fly first!  Thankyou to David Nobes for the loan of his hovercraft.

  • Thermal Soaring -- Did not compete.
